Hello Dialers, hope all is well! 🎃 Fall is officially in the air!

And of course welcome to The Dialup Log‘s first issue! This is October 2025 / Issue 1.

In the newsletters I’ll share about the behind the desk workings, which will mostly be design ideas in the works and research I’ve come a crossed. Mostly from old magazines. And we’ll see how this goes!

Behind the Desk

Designs this week!

These are a few of the designs, I’ve been working on the last few weeks. And sent in for testing!

  1. Dialup Internet Branded

  2. Prodigy Internet Service

  3. Rocky, the Office Assistant

I’m especially excited about Rocky, the Office Assistant! Mostly because I redrew the character. Couldn’t really find any good images of Rocky, so I decided to redraw. I tried to trace it with computation, but the paws called out to be redrawn.

Apart from Rocky, got a suggestion from an Instagram follower to create a branded hat. I was worried about being it a pixelated icon, but it made perfect sense to create one.

The Dialup Internet Stickers

Been also working on a sticker, but we'll have to wait and see. As I especially want this to be included in packages.

Prodigy hat version 1

The last one in my mind was the Prodigy hat, I had a version 1 (left image or above), but the star came out a bit too big on the flat bill. And I never did publish it. But the new one, has both the blue star and the logotype below it. Perhaps I should've just published the first version, what do you think?

There's still more being worked on. A few more microsoft related themes. And am also working on a t-shirt design, which I'll share in the next issue!

Interesting Magazine Ads

Magazine Ads

Every time I go back and read the old magazines and the ads, it reminds me how much fun people were having back then. Perhaps it was a different time of confidence especially in the US, where the economy was better off. Perhaps, people were more adventurous and humorous back then. Whatever the case, you get some real good kicks out of them.

Until Next Time!

This is it for this issue. I'll need to figure out a better newsletter sending platform, but in the meanwhile this will suffice. Thanks for reading all the way through and if you ever have questions or suggestions send me an email at [email protected]
